Three Kings Day here is the equivalent of Christmas in the U.S., with parades, mass, family gatherings, and present opening on the eve of Jan. 7.
We enjoyed the celebration in the pueblo of Lliber where the closeness of this small community was very apparent. Here is Lliber’s tourism video.
The church bells chimed all evening while children and families filled the streets waiting for the parade, and others gathered at outdoor tables for a drink at the taberna. The three kings arrived in a parade of horse-drawn carriages and live band musicians, making their way through town and uphill to the church.
Here are a few examples of how towns on the Costa del Sol celebrated Three Kings Day – in one pueblo, the kings arrived by helicopter into the football stadium!
