We took the opportunity of this sunny Dec. 2 Saturday to discover an excellent resource for hiking and mountain biking right in Granada. The Acequia Real-Dehesa del Generalife has several kilometers of trails, elevation, and beautiful vistas that any hiker or mountain biker needs to feel re-energized.

From Plaza Isabel, the C35 bus (1.40 euro each) goes up, up past Ahlambra to the Cemetary de San Jose de Granada, the second oldest municipal cemetery in Spain. Then, catch the trail! We hiked the trails through olive trees and local vegetation for 3+ hours today.

For anyone craving an escape from the narrow cobblestone streets of downtown Granada, this is the most easily accessible half-day outing without renting a car.

Plus, the views…look down on the Alhambra, on the city, and out further to the Sierra Nevada mountain range.
