Cordoba has all the harmonious melodies of a city with obvious pride – the sounds of hammers and welders restoring historic structures, nighttime revelers and street cleaners, and a joyful daytime esprit.

Staying in the historic district on Calle de San Fernando Nov. 21-24, we enjoyed being near the Mezquita-Cathedral and adjacent landmarks and museums, and one block from the riverfront, while still being only a mile’s walk to the commercial district, the stunning public library, Universidad de Cordoba, and adjacent train and bus stations.

With warm days and cool nights, we bundled up for 9 p.m. (21:00) dinners out at tabernas, the favorite of which was at Bodegas Campos Taberna which had all the history and clientele of a Hollywood movie (most days they also offer visits at noon and 1 p.m. if you email communicacion@bodegascampos.com).

Camino friends we met out at a taberna.
Look closely to see the age of each arch as the Mezquita-Cathedral was added onto.
