Long before I was born, the 1950s musical My Fair Lady popularized the phonetic exercise “The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain.”

No rain today as Kevin and I departed from sunny Portland skies on British Airways’ 787 Dreamliner for two months in Spain on Nov. 19, 2023 – Jan. 12, 2024.

We’re both returning to Spain for our second time. We fell in love with Spain on our first trip in the Spring of 2022 as pilgrims walking 100 km of the Camino from the town of Saria to San Sebastian, with additional time in Madrid and Salamanca, where Natalia was on her study abroad.

This time, the plan is to spend 8 weeks exploring the history and culture of central and southern Spain in the region of Andalusia, with additional time in Barcelona and Alicante.
